Jay Walsh- Ceramics is my primary medium of expression. I enjoy the 3 dimensional and manipulative qualities of clay. Being a teacher I explore an array of approaches and treatments of ceramics. My work is influenced by nature, architecture and historical ceramic forms. These can manifest in functional art for everyday life or work that evokes functionality but is not intended for use. It is meant to be viewed touched, held and is a means of escape from the mass produced ware so often found in our everyday lives. My work can be found in regional galleries and shows. The work may include everything from high fire porcelain to alternative treatments such as naked raku.
